They have a great page for how to get more info and take action. Compared to other 'Take Action' pages it's one of the better ones, but as I read it I find myself wondering if anyone is going to get past step 1, or even the first bullet of step 1.
Tell me what you think. How far would you get on in their 10 Steps?
The thing standing in the way of us solving our problems is not the problem itself, it is the system that fosters the problems. In this example of Media Cover-Ups and Corporate Control, what can we expect to win? They say we need paid media subscription services, extra taxes to pay for better public broadcasting, rolling back some legislation, and changing the way broadcast frequencies are sold.
I don't see this happening. Those are doable solutions, but they are not going to happen. Even if this movie gained the attention of millions of people, and we got some of these things changed, we'd still need to be on the look out that it doesn't reverse itself. As long as the modus operandi is for corporations to do all they can, to make as much money as possible, they are going to be making our lives worse because they are at war to steal our time and money. I'm not against making a profit, I'm not against capitalism. It is simple math. If everyone is trying to get as much as they can, and the tendency is for those with more to be able to get more, the money inequalities will form, and they will get worse and worse, until one person (or a few people) has all of the wealth. I know Adam Smith said something like, 'doing what's best for you is the best thing you can do for society', but seriously, that is not right, it's not even what he said. It misses a big part about being ethical to name one. However it's worked out really well for a lot of people and it's tempting to keep doing it, but it will be the ruin of the majority of us, . I think Smith has a lot of great insights, I just think we have simplified them too much, or maybe like all evolutionary tendencies, the ideas or interpretations which are most successful are those which flourish. So the only way to beat this is to start doing things that out perform the 'do what's best for you, regardless of the cost to others' mentality, we need to start something better. That's the only way to solving all of our problems. A new system. A slight tweak to the old system, one that puts us on the same team, promotes cooperation and punishes those that betray the group. We don't need everyone thinking about everyone, we just need everyone agreeing to not screw each other over to steal their resources. or all of us
