― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
I can't remember where I heard this recently, but it just seems so true, and such a useful mental model for motivation, and so overlooked. Outside of advertising I don't know if people really get this. I don't think people fundamentally understand that when it comes to accomplishing things, or overcoming thing, or issues of 'willpower', the key factor is your reason. Do you have a good enough reason to keep you on task, do you have the desire. 'If you don't have the need you won't succeed'. Hey did I just come up with a slogan/quote? I'll let someone else try to google that to tell me if I'm ripping someone off, for now I'll just pat myself on the back :)
