Open Letter to Robert Reich
Dear Mr. Reich,
Your website, you videos, your interviews and your amazing documentary, convey the most important message of the day, but they don't seem to be leading to people taking the required action. I've got an idea for you that could turn everything on it's head. An idea that could result in all viewers significant action, right away and every day thereafter. An idea bigger than policy changes, an idea that would be the catalyst for legislation changes.
After reading an article on Pitchmen, I feel like you are an informercial pitchman, and a quite good one, but one that never makes 'the turn', to ask for the money. You capture our imagination and fill our minds with dreams of a better future, but we're left without anything to do right away, and those dreams fade away. You have a list of long term things we can do, but we need a product or service we can buy or buy into. You need to tell us what we can do right now! What corporations and products should we support or not support. How can we vote with our dollars rather than petitions and movie nights.
Here is your July 20th Tweet:
"True patriotism isn't just about securing our borders from outsiders. It's about coming together for the common good."
Now what? What are your 200,000 followers supposed to do now?
Why not add a link where people could do something for the common good?
With 200,000 people following you some direction could make a big difference!
The inequality gap, is a result of our flawed system. A system which relies on people to make decisions that are in their best interest based on all available information. We're not good at that, today more than ever. The idea of Homo Economicus isn't working out. With our unprecedented access to information it should be easy but it's not. There is too much information, and there are too many people working day and night coming up with ways to trick us into making decisions in their best interest rather than ours.
We need a service (or a few services) that take all of the information out there and guides us to make better decisions in all aspect of our lives. A service which empowers each one of us to be homo economicus. And where there are no good options, e.g. no grocery stores that pay their employees a fair minimum wage, it could start one. I believe you have the resources and following to make this service a reality.
It would be in everyone's best interest to join this service and use these services, and as it grew it could have the power to change government and corporate policies over night. Policies that could not only shrink the inequality gap but tackle all of our global issues. People would be coming together for the common good, but driven by their immediate self interests.
How much do you think it would cost to provide a service like this? $10 million, $100 million, $1 trillion?
How much time do you think it would take to run a service like this? 50 hours a week, 70 hours a week, every day and night?
How long do you think it would take to see results? months or years?
If you contact me today (@SpontCoop) I'll tell you how you could do this for practically no start up cost, generate a profit within days, have it infinitely scalable, and be totally automated within months. You will go from trying to get in front of people to tell them about the inequality gap, to people coming to you for a review of their proposed policy changes, and then asking you what else you see needs changing because the inequality gap is taken care of.
Don't delay, your followers are standing by, waiting to do great things, they just need a little direction.
Sincerely,
@SpontCoop
