Naomi,
Can you please tell me if I'm crazy.
I've got an idea that I think solves everything, but the thought that one simple idea could solve everything seems unlikely.
I think all of our efforts to solve global issues should be focused on helping people be as happy as possible as efficiently and socially responsible as possible. That's it.
It won't be easy as some might want, but by sticking to that one goal it could really bring activists together, and drop barriers which prevent non-activists from changing their behaviours. It would change the conversation from "what do I have to give up?" to "how can I benefit by changing" or "what am I sacrificing by continuing this way?".
It could start with a wiki outlining what people can do to save money and be happier, and evolve into an industry of service providers helping people win against marketing designed to trick them.
In the world of economics I think this would help us be the homo economicus that we are failing to be. To the general public I might call it a 'Happiness Service Provider'.
Am I crazy? Is this too naive? Is anyone else working on this?
I love your work and would really value your opinion on this.
Thank you for all that you've done, your books and movies are invaluable.
Sincerely.
Spontaneous Cooperation Guy
